I’m Brian.
I’m running to be your next judge in the 18th Judicial District.
I have been practicing law in our community for 25 years. I’ve served as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor under Bradley Vaughn for the last 6.5 years. I’ve seen what happens inside the courthouse. I have seen how important it is to have a district judge that steps up, listens, and is a part of our community.
District court is the front door of Kentucky’s court system. As a rule, most times when people come to court, they’re coming to district court, whether it’s a probate matter, a landlord-tenant action, a mental health case, a criminal case, or a small civil case.
Most people’s contact with the court system is in district court, and people expect when they come to district court to be treated with dignity and respect.
That’s what I want to do every day I come to work. I want to honor the people who have put me in office and the people who have trusted me to serve in that position.
It is important that disputes be resolved fairly and quickly because that is how we make sure there is confidence in our justice system.
I also believe that it’s important that judges remain impartial and make their decisions based on the law and facts, not politics and not personal opinions.
I like to think of myself as a common-sense conservative, and that means people have to be held accountable for what they do. But practically, I recognize that there’s a time and a place for second chances.
Some people will learn from their mistakes. While I believe a second chance is appropriate, a twentieth is not.
Practically, we have to listen and take care of our people so that we have safe neighborhoods, victims are heard, and repeat offenders understand that when they break the law, there will be consequences.
If I am honored to serve as your next district judge, I’ll bring experience, fairness, common sense, and respect for the law to the bench every day I work.
