Canupp4Judge – Episode 6

Video Transcript

Hello, this is Brian.

I’d like to ask you something.
What does real common sense leadership look like in a Kentucky district courtroom? It means results, not excuses, not a revolving door.

For too long we’ve seen the same cycle people coming back through the system again and again while taxpayers keep paying the price. That’s not tough on crime. That’s a system that isn’t working. I believe we can do better. We already have strong resources right here in our four counties treatment programs, job training, and local organizations that are ready to help people turn their lives around.

As your next district court judge, I’ll bring these resources together through proven tools like diversion programs, drug court, and supervised probation.

Now make no mistake, these programs demand accountability. You got to show up, stay clean, get a job, follow the rules, and if someone refuses, there will be consequences. And let me be just as clear about this, violent offenders who threaten our communities will be held accountable. Public safety comes first, period. But for nonviolent offenders, when we address the root of the problem, we see real change fewer repeat offenses, fewer victims, and lower costs to our counties. That’s what common sense leadership is all about protecting our communities, demanding accountability, and being a good steward of your hard earned tax dollars.

We don’t need bigger government. We need smarter solutions, and we need a system that works. That’s how we break the cycle. That’s how we strengthen our communities, and that’s exactly what I intend to do as your next district court judge.
