Hello, this is Brian.
A district court judge holds an important position in a community, but I believe a district court judge should remember one thing:
He or she is a servant, not a lord.
The courtroom doesn’t belong to the judge. It belongs to the people, and the authority that a judge exercises is entrusted to that judge by both the people who elected them and the law.
Everyone who walks through those courthouse doors deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. They deserve a judge who will listen, follow the law, and bring common sense to the decisions that affect their lives.
A judge has to make tough calls. Sometimes that means holding someone accountable, and sometimes that means giving someone a second chance. But every decision should be made fairly, consistently, and with logic.
I’m running for district judge because I believe that public office is public service. The robe doesn’t make you a lord over the people. It makes you a servant of the people.
I’m Brian Canupp, and I hope to earn your trust and your vote this election.
